Skype but low resources

As title really, when i play wow on my desktop (quite old, not really up to multitasking in any sort of sense) and talk on skype it grinds to a halt in some areas so looking for voip software thats low on system resources. I have a feeling skype is fairly demanding even by itself

Any ideas?

how much ram do you have mate?

my sisters hubby and i play wow with skype all the time and he has 1gb ram.

never had any issues,

any other apps also running? kill msn, outlook if your using it and such.

try disabling AV protection also, and uninstall things like windows defender, they slow down your pc a treat

I heard that trillian is supposed to be quite good. It opens out all of your chat related accounts in one program rather than say 3 or 4 different ones.

I tried it and at that time it still needed skype to run, though it did mean I could close down Googletalk, and MSN. I don't know how well it is integrated right now though.
