Skype on OS X - Dodgy mic?

I'm trying to use Skype on OS X, but when I use the mic to test using the 123echo test thing, all I get is static. Anyone else getting the same? Using a Logitech Quickcam.

It's probably a setting somewhere because I use Skype all the time on my MacBook with the built in mic and also with a headet plugged into the line in. Make sure Skype is using the correct device and try playing around with any settings you can see.

I can hear my voice between the noise, so it's the right source. Must be a problem with OS X and the camera.
