there is the other option of a bluetooth headset, unless u need the ability to view your contacts on the phone itself.

there is a plugin for skype, but i cant remember what its called, that allows u to answer and make calls direct from the headset etc.

Do you mean wireless or cordless.

A wireless skype phone connects to your router through WiFi without needing a PC and cost around £100 notes.

A cordless phone connects to your PC or VOIP port on the router and acts like a cordless DECT phone. They're a lot cheaper than WiFi phones.

If you have a DECT phone already you can buy a box that it plugs into to turn it into a skype phone, i believe cisco make some.

AFAIK an ATA, or any other VoIP device that isn't specifically designed for it, won't work with Skype (since they don't use any proper standard like SIP or SCCP).

Ah, sorry guys should have been more specific, I meant cordless phone, which is the best option? Not used skype before to be honest, but it will be much easier than incurring supoer duper charges on my mobile phone to mates! I am going through a wireless router (though I am connected directly to it via LAN) does this make a difference (dont mean to sound so noobie :p)

Seems to get good reviews, google then up and have a read to see if it suits what you're after.

thats a fair bit of kit, I used one for a few months with no problems, if your using vista you will have to put up with 32bit drivers.

I'd still be using the linksys phone if I hadn't dropped it down the bog by accident :D never mind it'll teach me to do one thing at a time.
