Skype, two PCs on same network, fine on one PC, very slow upload on the other

Hi all

I recently got a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, which works brilliantly on my S775 quad core P35 PC upstairs, but I'm having big issues sending a video stream on the S775 quad core G41-based HTPC downstairs. My parents are saying that the video barely moves and is very blocky, and I'm getting the red network warning indicator in Skype.

Technical call info from within the Skype call shows that the BW_upload has slowed to <1kBps, whereas I have a 30Mb / 3Mb connection that regularly maxes out and has a Speedtest result consistent with what I'd expect.

Just wondering if anyone has come across this issue whereby two different PCs on the same network behave so differently with Skype? I don't think I've got a USB problem as everything else USB works great on the HTPC. I'm using Avast AV on both PCs.

To answer some potentially obvious questions: I'd like to be able to use Skype on the downstairs PC because my parents can see my daughter crawling etc. more easily, and I have updated all video, motherboard and webcam drivers on the HTPC in the living room. I have also forwarded the relevant Skype ports to my Virgin Superhub (although UPnP is working fine).

The other party state that they have no problems receiving smooth video from anyone else. That combined with the fact that my other PC works fine, makes both of us think it's something at my end.

Many thanks if you have any ideas, I'm stumped!

How are both PCs connected to the Superhub? Have you tried a wired connection with the downstairs PC to see if that helps?

Thanks for the replies. Both PCs are connected to the superhub by network cable. Both PCs are running the same version of avast antivirus. Both PCs are running win7 firewall. I'm stumped.
