Just been on live chat with a SkyQ advisor.

I was asking how many UHD channels are available and they assured me all of the current HD channels get upgraded to UHD with the SkyQ 2TB box.

I'm pretty sure thats not right, can anyone clarify/confirm what is actually broadcast in UHD or if its just upscaled?

There are over 50 HD channels with 11 free view HD channels with Box Sets bundle. Once you upgrade to SKYQ with SKYQ 2TB box, these over 50 HD and 11free view HD channels will become 4K/UHD channels. All 11 Cinema channels will become UHD channels, and all 7 Sports channels will become UHD channels if added with Sports HD pack.

From the chat log.

Then he's lying to you as there aren't any UHD 'channels' on it whatsoever. There is only some on-demand and football in UHD, the actual channels are still just HD.

I don't think there are any specific UHD channels so it depends on what you set your Sky Q box to and whether your tv can display it.
Sometimes you will only get HD or even SD content.
Do note that Sky is not transmitting true 4k.
Andi.

Sorry that's incorrect. While it's true that your TV will upscale the content to Ultra HD as best it can, they're not true Ultra HD sources.

There are some Ultra HD films available on Demand though but no broadcast channels.

Oh, and to clarify, the only thing that's broadcast live in UHD is occasional football matches. That's it, nothing else whatsoever. There's a selection of UHD on-demand movies and TV series but the selection is limited.

It's frankly a rather pathetic showing and I'd never recommend anyone get Sky Q for UHD.
