SkyQ upgrade

With the skyQ mini box, does this connect directly to the main SkyQ box or to the network, because the 2 boxes will be a long way apart and doubt they will connect together if thats the case?... Also can everything be done without a WPS button as I use the wifi from Unifi access points and they dont have a button?

When we got Sky Q installed, the guy did signal checks and also put a booster box in place (for no extra cost) when one of the mini boxes was apparently a little weak.

And they do (per my understanding) use the main box, not your wifi signal.

I believe though that the booster - if I was using Sky's internet service - would also boost your routers signal (and I think the TV boxes do too?). Which is one element of what has me tempted to swap to Sky for my internet too when my BT deal runs out.

The mini box can connect directly to the main box using it's own internal Wifi network, or if you have wired ethernet nearby you can connect it via Cat5

The booster functionality is pretty rubbish. I switched from BT to Sky hoping to benefit, but it made pretty much 0 difference to WiFi signal in the house.

FYI You either need your own dish on your property or if you use a communal Dish like those in a block of flats etc then is must be a newer standard that is Sky Q capable.

They didn't bother to check with me on the phone if I had my own dish or if the ariel was a recent install so I had a wasted wait for a month only to be told straight away by the technician I couldn't get Sky Q until they could book me in for a dish install...another month away. Very frustrating.

That's puzzling. Why do you believe they would need to check if your aerial was a recent install? Sky comes via the satellite dish. It has nothing to do with aerials.
