Does running texture mods in Skyrim affect the amount of VRAM being used on my graphics card?

I downloaded some high def texture packs and installed them but it's a bit slow now....possibly a CPU issue as well but without texture packs, the game runs smooth.

Anyone playing high modded skyrim able to answer?

Texture mods give massive fps decrease if you can't handle them, depending on the resolution of the textures. Most mods don't use recycled textures like vanilla either, so its a lot for your GPU to have to caché and process. CPU doesn't really effect this aspect that much.

Oooooo, I do have some helpful input! I have a 560ti 448 core, high res textures WITHOUT a CPU OC to 4.2Ghz (i5 ivybridge) from 3.6ghz (I think), ran at like 45fps... Max. With the OC... 120fps+.

Don't know why, as stated above, it's GPU dependant... So odd, but give it a shot maybe?
