Hi

Is anyone playing on this card, i cannot get it to play keepcoming up error with the rendering, it asks to change the resoloution but to no avail. I have also tried rolling the graphics driver to no avail :(

To a quick edit, i can play fine on my rig as below but its my lads pc the problem which is a 5850 with a fast dual core about 3 ghz i think and 4 gb ram. I have read a few posts where people have had the same problem but no answers

45-60 FPS outside on this card using the auto-detected high settings (except with AA turned down to 4x and sky reflections in the water turned on) on a 1920x1080 resolution. FPS typically between 100 and 120 inside. I've only gone down to about 35 outside once when there was a lot of action going on (I can't say what as it could spoil something).

Currently using 11.9 drivers.

Well i woukd love to say that i fixed it with some
Easy download but alas i had to put a old
Gts 250 and that works fine even on high!! Bit of a joke though as i cannot stop thinking how good the graphics would have been on my sytem instead of my lads

5850 here. No real problems with the game. Couple of artifact issues here and there. Drivers are about a month or two old downloaded with Windows update iirc.

Another thread was claiming people were having trouble with fraps type programs running in the background. No background bumpf here bar Commodo av.

Does your son have any problems with any other games? He's stress tested his cpu/gpu if they are clocked? Cant think of much else to suggest.

5850 Extreme runs it fine on Very High default settings - I tried it on Ultra and it is very playable but just slowed occasionally outside so I have gone back to very high.

I haven't even overclocked the card yet or tweaked the game I feel with a bit of TLC I could probably get ultra playable but as I only play on a 19" monitor I could hardly notice
a difference between VH and Ultra.

Fantastic game by the way I'm 70 hours in and feel like I've only just scratched the surface - I'm playing as a Conjuration/Destruction Mage although I have just got a fantastic Paralysis spell
from the Alteration school so might have to start using that more (instead of my usual Incinerate/Dremora Lord combo).

It might be worth trying a graphics driver removal tool first and then reinstall the driver from the amd site.

Then use steams graphics driver update tool to check you are up to date (if you use steam).

5850 extreme and 3.1Ghz dual core phenom here, and using the settings below that the game selected for me. Game runs great and looks great.

Running on high (can run with ultra but the fps drops to low for my liking in the citys) @ 1080 with 2 5770 but not running CF because it's abit bugged atm.

Have you copied a game save or files from another PC? I had a similar thing with DX3 where I copied the configs from a friends PC and it kept giving me errors until I removed the copied data and re-verified through Steam
