I have just treated myself to the special edition of Skyrim and downloaded it on Steam. Is there a way to get it to run in full screen at 3440x1440, it's running in a window at the moment.

New to Skyrim and really looking forward to playing :)

Any other Skyrim gaming tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

When I ran with Wabbajack using one of the mod preset lists I was running in fullscreen. I cannot remember it did but it picked it up automatically. I am running 3840x1200 so a little bit of a weird resolution.

I'll redownload Skyrim SE again and see what I can figure out. Won't be immediate though as download times, and lunch is on the way.

Edit: I haven't tried this, but see if it works: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/41289

Absolutely, it's fun without mods but I would suggest looking at Wabbajack. If you have Nexus Premium it automatically downloads and installs all the needed mods for you. So you click download, sit back, and then just hit play once it's done.

Wow.

I keep meaning to get into Skyrim but the huge amount of mods out there, although a wonderful inclusion, looks like a bit of a chore to sort through.

This, however, looks like a very useful tool. Cheers. :)

Last time I played Skyrim in 3440x1440 I used this mod to sort out the ultrawide aspects of skyrim - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1778

Also, another mod that most find is needed with Skyrim is the SkyUI - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604

And the unofficial skyrim special edition patch, which basically fixes all the minor bugs within the game - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/266

If you go with the wabbajack, then the unofficial patch will most likely already be in the mod pack, the SkyUI is a maybe but the ultrawide you most likely have to add yourself though. But any of the mod packs through wabbajack will have a full description of the mods used so you see there if it is or not.

I'm not having much luck with the mods. I've registered on Nexus Mods and installed Vortex (and SKSE via Steam). The mods (ultrawide for SE, unofficial SE patch and SkyUI_5_2_SE) are showing as active in the Mods Manager section of Vortex and showing as active for Skyrim on the Vortex dashboard. When I launch the game, it just looks exactly as it did before though?

Maybe I need to look at this again when I'm a little less tired - it's been a long day.

Thanks for the help and advice :)

you don't need mods for the resolution you just edit the config file and turn on fullscreen as well you do need mods to get the interface to scale correctly, if you need me to I can tell you how to edit the config file tomorrow as I will need to remember the details or someone else can do it for you.

The other tool you can use is Bethini which will let you edit the config an easy way Link Here

Thanks for the replies. I'll take a look for the config file.

I've also been having a look at the other OCUK thread linked above.. Wow! I really want to mod the game now.. some of the mods look simply incredible! However, as I'm a new player I'd like to mod the visuals rather than the gameplay. I also read that the updated UI is a must!

From reading, Wabbajack definitely seems to make it MUCH easier for someone who is new to all of this. To keep things tidy I'll post on the other thread about modding later.

This is all so new to me. I've been wanting to play Skyrim for years though!

Prefer oldrim for modding, better support more mods..but i would sujjest start of small, perhaps a handful of visual mods install and test before making a proper playthrough

I've spent days, (or wasted days depending on your view) modding Skyrim. It gets very addictive but it's oddly enjoyable and well worth the outcome.

You must use an ENB too for the best visuals. I ended up using a base one then totally working up my own settings from it and making my own. A lot of the ENBs you'll find out there are way over cooked, try pick a neutral one to start with.

I fired this up tonight to test UW settings, the Steam SE version seems to work naturally with 5120 x 1440 and as far as I could see, the menu seems fine. :)

Now just realised why I stopped playing back in 2018 - my last save I got stuck in a fireplace and must have rage quit! Why was I crawling into a fire - no idea. :o

I never actually played through Skyrim so I've just picked up the SE edition. I'm running 3440x1440 also so came across this thread while looking for fixes/best practices with Ultrawide.

Basically I want to do a fresh playthrough with the game looking as good as possible (I've got a 3090 so might as well use it), and with as few bugs as possible.

I've had a look at 'Skyrim 2020 Parallax' which looks great. But should I install other mods before/after it? Just trying to get my head around it. Wish there was a 'dummies guide' out there that literally says "download this, run this, install this, play"... :)
