For the causal internet user FREE for 2Mb (2G cap) is surely too good an offer?

For the more hardened internet user surely £10 (with NO set up fee) for 16MB (no cap) is surely too good an offer?

As long as they don't have bad traffic shaping for us torrenter etc that looks amazing!!

ps: Can they traffic shape for torrents? I though it was somehow encrypted now so the ISP couldn't spot it?

Hi, im also interested in this, as it does sound too good to be true.

Any body have any problems with Sky Boradband.

No one will have any problems yet because it won't be rolled out until August. But as rgzcampbell says if you don't live in one of their LLU Exchange areas then it will be £17 with a £40 setup fee and hence not quite so attractive.

As a non Sky customer it looks like the cheapest Sky package I can get is £15 plus the £10 for the Max adsl (free install, free wireless broadband box) - 12 month contract. My exchange is Easynet LLU enabled so the 16Mb package looks viable.

Compared to UKOnline's 22Mb offer (Easynet LLU based) of £25 connection, £29 per month and forced to buy their £80 adsl modem with 12 month contract the Sky offer looks interesting.

Packet shaping, speed throttling, support and quality of the Sky service all unknown ...

After my ADSLMax experiences I think I'll watch and wait to see how the early adopters get on :)

Just got a letter through the post from sky all about it. Seems pretty legit, however it says in the last paragraph that it is not available in my area yet, however you can join "Sky connect" at first for £17 a month up to 8mbps for the time being, until they can connect us to the other packages.

We did sign up for talktalk, and thats not connected yet it says on *** tracking "End of July" lets just see, shall we. :o

The number one drawback is that this big "announcement" from Sky doesn't seem to say in big enough lettering "Cheap options only open to around 17% of the UK population at release, raising to 70% over 18 months".
So availability is just a slight problem.

Of course on top of that, as the product isn't on sale until August, there is no user feedback so nobody knows speed, reliability etc.
If you're on an LLU Exchange then the £10 per month option (even the £5 one) will be an absolute bargain.
However if you go for the £10 per month option be prepared for only a year of truly unlimited access as all ISP's are slowly realising that capping is the only option.
Give people an inch and they will take a mile.
