Skys latest roll out of firmware causing issues

Sky force you into using their own crappy router.

I am on ADSL using a:

System Details
Manufacturer Sagemcom
Model Number F@ST2504n

Turns out sky done an over night roll out of a firmware update. This is why I am having huge issues with Arma 2 and teamspeak 3, timing out and not connecting to the anti cheat system battleye.

My request is for anyone that might have a link to an older firmware for this model of router or might have an original sky disk that contains the older firmware.
 
Ah, so thats whats causing it!

I had trouble with my trusty old Sky Netgear DG834GT (yes, I've been with Sky a while) the internet connection failed a few days ago had to spend an hour on the phone with a Sky advisor who had to go through everything on my setup before making me flash the router with the original firmware from the CD-Rom - seems it was a bad firmware upgrade that ****ed the router -

- firmware seems to have upgraded again, seems to be succesful this time, it's now authenticating as MER rather than PPPoA, Sky seems to be a pushing all the routers onto this format -

your router will do the same if you return to an earlier firmware version, no way of stopping it, it connects to the update server and if it finds an update, it will update the router you have no choice about that other than to use a non-Sky router or flash non-Sky firmware on it.

Anyone using a DG834GT with sky can change router, just go into it and backup your configuration - you user name and password are stored in plain text - put them in another router and you're set.
 
Yes, this could be one of the problems. As soon as you update it will try to get an update from the server possibly upgrading itself again at some point.

The only way might be to flash it with Generic Netgear firmware. I know it should be able to be unlocked now.
 
This isn't a netgear router and the recovery cd software is not working. 3 of us on an unofficial sky forum unable to get it to recover.
 
Gets to the end of the recovery and then fails with an IO connection error.

Your recovery software is different though, so I will try that after the poker. Playing Sunday storm and bigger $11 on PS atm.
 
The software you uploaded was for the older model not the new "N" model.

Yea they probably will, you can edit the config to stop it updating on the older model. So hopefully will be the same on this new model too.
