Hi OcUK

My router is the old B type, and needs changing.

If I opt to get my own (TP-LINK, Netgear, etc), am I likely to run into problems staying connected?

I know that Sky will not come out if I do get a problem in the future (which is understandable).

Cheers

If you aren't up for a bit of fiddling about then you will have to go with the Sky router.

Sky use a non-standard MER authentication on a lot of their lines. I think the Billion 7800n is one of the few non-Sky routers that can cope with it but it is a pain to set up (custom firmware, getting your user name and password off the old router etc.)
