I also couldn't help but notice a goal of $15000. Just who's going to work for that amount and how much is that one person going to do?
Most real contractors would burn through that in 3 months at the most. So it's going to be an enthusiast working in his bathroom.
Sorry, but I don't see what it brings to the party that's new, not when we already have Space Engineers, Elite etc
 
Over 75% funded in less than a day.. That is great news for those of us that have followed this game and were eager to back and help this one man dev out. The dev said himself he wants a cross between Elite/Minecraft. He has already gotten a long way towards it. There is still huge amounts of work to do, but the backers are fully aware, I'm sure, of the pitfalls. I believe the guy will complete this game, whether or not KS reaches its goal. But to get your hands on it early.. back it.
I can't wait to get my hands on it, even in its current build. ;)

First Stage = Base Goal of 15000 EUR: The heavy lifting. This goal will allow me to work full time for 6 months before the early access release. I will focus on:
  • Polish, refactor and stabilize the technology
  • Add ship systems like energy, weapon, shield and more
  • Improve the multiplayer experience
  • Work on the navigation and flight model

Good luck, but I can't help but think that it might have been easier to work on a mod for an existing app, such that you don't have to worry about things like maintaining user security access, netcode, cost application support, planning of updates to the core engine, communications management to user etc etc.
 
A good example of a ship built inside the game already. This is a very early build pre alpha.

To be fair, it does say on the Kickstarter. It's a one-man band amateur and the $15000 is to pay his bills for six months so he can work on it full time.

Engine looks pretty slick for an early build, nice and smooth even with quick movements over the space habitat
