SL deletes everything in your account bug.. doh!

So in order for this to happen you have to :-

a) have done an upgrade instead of a clean install
b) had the guest account enabled prior to the upgrade
c) have automatic login enabled.

That's pretty much how it goes. At least that's how it's been traced down, so I'd hope it's something which can be fixed. I can't imagine it'll affect that many people.

Hopefully people will have done the sensible thing and backed up prior to upgrading. It is a very serious bug, but it happens and I'm sure it will be fixed quickly.

I lost my data purely cos I'm retarded and forgot to back up properly (tiger to SL). Nasty bug but hopefully a fix for those few it may affect.

I did a fresh install of 10.6, so I should be ok...

interestingly, the 10.6 disk is not an upgrade version, it's actually the full version and no previous version is needed. Not bad for £25
