Slap Fighting

I agree.

It's not really a fair sport because someone with a weak chin can win if he goes first and knocks the other guy out on his first shot after winning the coin toss.

It also makes a mockery of the health of head injuries. It shows how lacking of empathy Dana White has for the issue.

Imagine if boxing was a new thing these days, people would be horrified but as it's been around a while it's totally normal to watch people knock seven shades out of each other.

Ironically, boxing would be safer if we went back to the old rules of bare knuckle and dropped the modern style with gloves.

If you watch US based slap fighting, you will see they blatantly ignore the rules and strike in a manner that is dangerous. The refs don't do anything for illegal strikes.

They are effectively punching by striking with their thumb area instead of the fingers and palm, and come up from underneath the rear of the jaw. That is a knockout punch zone and technique that is banned in the Russian version.

It's cheap and accessible requiring minimal skill, fitness and training relative to more established fighting sports so people going to people? Adapt it with some cardio involved and defensive options and you could probably wipe out the 'sport' almost entirely.

And there are a ton of people willing to participate - in the UK alone at least 50% of the population would be dead keen on being slapped in the face then wondering how that could have happened.
