Christ, so many people don't get the problem!

1: Some children were sent home last week having been diagnosed with a virus. Gilly and family were not aware of this.
2: Gilly's lad comes home looking unwell. His girlfriend called the school in order to ask them to keep an eye on him. At which point she finds out about children having contracted the virus and sent home.
3: Gilly is ****ed because the school did not inform anyone that their children may have been infected by a virus. A virus known to be particularly dangerous to certain risk groups.

Jeez. I know he's Northern, but he wasn't speaking bloody Klingon.

Sirius, I honestly could not understand it until he clarified it later in the thread. That's understandable as he was likely very upset and angry at the time.

His OP wasn't the best, certainly. But after he clarified it was crystal clear, yet people were still completely stumped. :/

Sounds like last week the school should have sent a letter round telling parents there was an outbreak of Slapped Cheek Syndrome and included information about it.

I'd say it's a fair guess that in the primary-school playground at picking up time there'll be someone up the duff.

Re Impetigo, I remember when going into school one day my friends mum (who's a GP) telling another kids mum that their child did not just have a rash and had Impetigo and should be taken home immediately!

My wife is a teacher and currently 8 weeks into her second pregnancy. The first ended in miscarriage at 7 weeks last August, so I'm naturally ****ing myself. Some kids were sent home with suspected slapped cheek last week. My first reaction was, you're not going to work until it's proven not to be slapped cheek, but the gp was reluctant to sign her off based only on suspected slapped cheek. She told her she'd never be at work if she stayed at home for every suspected case...not amused.

Then I calmed down and realised that the gp had a point, especially once slapped cheek was ruled out. My point is that if I was this agitated by a false alarm where school were pretty communicative, I hate to think how I'd feel if I was in your shoes. Poor show by the school.
