Hi Everyone
Can anyone recommend websites/people who deals with custom sleeved cables for Seasonic - I would prefer it to be someone from the UK so that I don't have to wait too long.
Thanks

Cable extensions work out much cheaper, fit any psu as they only connect to the end of the existing cables but the downside is you have extra cable lengths to hide. I have used Bitfenix and currently Phanteks extensions and have had no problems with either of them.

It's just for looks and the cost of having nice looking cables can be half the cost of the psu itself or sometimes more than the psu cost. Cable extensions are far cheaper, work with all psu's but you then have extra cable length to hide.

Years ago one of the PSU manufactures used ferrite cores on their PCI-e cables as standard, they were aiming to reduce noise going into the graphics card apparently. The PSU company stopped trading about 10 years ago, but they made quite good PSU's. I can't think of their name, but they used these round plugs to connect the modular cables.

The thing that get's me with this capacitors in the cable lark is that Corsair uses caps in the cables of many of their psu's yet their expensive sleeved replacement cables don't have them. So are they really needed? I would love to know this as I would like to make my own cables for my 2021 RM850x. If cap's aren't needed that would be great because Corsair's standard cables are the most stiff cables I have ever come across.

So which cables were the capacitors used. I have some older Seasonic Golds and Platinums, and I thought the capacitors were only in the motherboard cables? However were they also in older Seasonic PCI-e / Sata / Molex cables even? Because of the braiding on Seasonic cables it's hard to tell if a cap is present.

I do have also a newer Seasonic Titanium and that has no caps in any of the cables.

On my 2021 Corsair RM850x they are on the motherboard, EPS and PCI-e cables. Not only does it make the cables bulky but they are ugly as well. I can't understand why they made them so stiff as it makes getting a neat bend very difficult which is why I resorted to using braided cable extensions. The cables I want to build would be out of 16awg silicone wire with individual black and red colouring. If I need to put caps in them I won't bother though.

@JasonM I had a interesting reply from Corsair tech support yesterday. I sent them a query on Wednesday saying that I was interested in buying a set of their sleeved cables for my RM850x but was worried about them not having inbuilt capacitors when my current cables that came with the PSU does have them. The reply was that he waited for his PSU expert to come in and asked him my question to which he replied that both sets of cables were of the same quality and that the capacitors on the stock cables aren't really needed as they don't do anything. Why fit them then? Anyway, that's the green light for me to make my own cables.

Jonnyguru mentions they are not needed (Last post). They just add a bit of extra smoothing for slightly less ripple/noise, but the RMx is already great in that respect.
