So ive have 2 x 2080ti's 1 currently in my pc and the second doing nothing, i have everything (apart from the bridge) to fit this including waterblock pipes ect.

But the trouble im having is im getting massivly mixed results on google, from yes it will inprove everything in games by 60% to most games wont even boot with sli.

Is it really worth adding the second gpu and adding a bridge, pretty much all i do is game, but with my resolution games like GTA 5 only reach avg 60fps, resolution is 5760x1080.

Why don't you sell them and get a 3090 ti or something?

That'll get you better results than trying run SLi. SLi is basically dead at this point. Game devs don't implement it nearly as much as they did before and it doesn't give as good performance as a single extra large GPU.

Up to you but if the second card is doing nothing, kinda defeats the point of having it.

SLI works best with a bridge but doesn't require it, as long as the motherboard supports it. If a game supports SLI then yes 1.5x or more performance is possible. But as noted above SLI support is fading if not gone. I ran 980ti SLI for years but only at 1920 x 1080. I also have a backlog of games so I have played a lot of the older ones which supported SLI. But every time I installed a new game I would need to check how well SLI was working and more often than not something needed to be tweaked. In the end I got sick of that and wanted to build a new PC which could game well with a single GPU. When 2080ti was available I considered it but all the reviews suggested that it wouldn't be much of an improvement over 980ti SLI. So I bit the bullet with 3090. Even though I also upgraded to 5120 x 1440, it is so great not having to deal with SLI settings any more, and the fact that many new games don't even support SLI has validated my decision.

Thanks for the replys, i think sellingboth and getting a 3090 is a good option, il look into ordering one soon.
Well maybe wait for the 4090 series?

You could sell one 2080ti now and stick with the one GPU for the mean time. The 4090 should give you all the performance you want without any hitches.

I know that an SLi rig looks amazing when watercooled though but it's not worth the headaches.

Another vote for sell one 2080ti and wait for the next gen of GPUs to be released.

SLI is just not worth the hassle and even some top end mobo do not have the SLI key needed for it to work correctly. Just forget SLI ever existed imho.
