Hi guys, I currently run the spec below. Been noticing I can pick up a second matching card for under £150. Would it be worth running two? I'm taking it I'd need to upgrade PSU? And maybe a better cooling case.

I don't think you'd have to upgrade your PSU bud, two 280X in CF will fly, but, were it me, depending on what res you game at, i'd be tempted to sell the 280X you have and pop a 290 in it's place, then get another as and when you need to.

Answers like that frustrate me, it was most likely a similair comment that made the op get a 280x in the first place.

Now is the time to crossfire a 280x.

I have just gone down the same route. Really pleased with the results.

Currently game at 1080p, but have been looking at these ultra wide LG monitors. Currently the single card copes very well with anything I throw at it, but was thinking the extra res I could do with a performance boost, Think I will keep an eye on mm prices. Give SLI a try for once. Not sure I can be bothered with selling my current card.. Choices choices.

:confused: that's not an answer bud, it's an opinion, at no point did i say that 280X's in CF isn't any good, in fact, i said "two 280X in CF will fly"

I've had two, i know how good they are, but my point still stands..

totally understand ZG002,

By no means was i implying that CF 280x's aren't any good, they are fantastic, powerful and should have no issues with a higher res, my only concern would be Vram usage on newer games, and the fact that at the moment, Mantle support seems to be onesided with most of the performance gains going to the 290 Range.

As i said, if it was my money, i'd sell and get a 290, tis but my imo though.

I'm sure were you to get another 280X, you'd love it and the power increase.;)

One just went in the mm for £120, so if I could sell mine for that price. In theory I'd have £240 to play with. Not sure what the 290 cards go for on the mm. Only build this system up a month or so ago lol.

You'd easily pick up a 290 or maybe a 290X for that price i'd like to think.

Again though, it all depends on what route you decide to take, i have no doubt that whatever you decide, you'll be happy :).

Or a 780 Classy. I had x2 msi twin boost @ 960mhz
They were fine but some games didn't like it. After I change I got near performance or better. BF4 hated crossfire sttutters every were.
I couldn't justify £150 @ the time as I have no issues with 30-100 fps
I don't have shadows on ultra (do you look at shadows when playing?)
I have a benq 144mhz monitor now so all that screen tearing I have put up for years is GONE.

My Classy runs @1280mgz 24/7 now I have a new MB. Haven't tweeked it yet.
Best advice is to see for your self. It's whats your happy with:D
