I was going for a single 680 but very tempted to Sli 670s. Never used more than 1 card before is there anything I should be aware of? I only run a single monitor At 1080p but but want to utilise my incoming 120hz screen.

Is anyone running these sli that could let me know it was easy/hard to setup and if there are any negatives.

Thanks

SLI is easy to set up.

Te disadvantages are:
Noise
Heat

IMO, these are the only issues you need to take into account.

The rest are dependable person to person. I'd suggest buying them and trying them out THOROUGHLY during the DSR period. If you do get multi card issues (unlikely) then just send one back.

You'll see with SLI that new release games often won't work for a month or even more. I think it took 6 months for an SLI profile for Modern Warfare 3, for example.

So it's not something that "just works"? I would have thought it would have been entirely hardware and driver?

Most of the time it "just works" but with new release games it can be frustrating. I guess you will save money by buying older games. *shrug*

That said, why would you go with SLI to play older games?

So won't work at all or not take advantage of the second card? That's pretty frustrating either way!

Would not worry too much as with most games that don't have ''offical'' nvidia sli profiles, the modders can make them in a matter of days.
If you have a decent size case for good air flow and a good 850w psu or better I think sli 670's would be pretty much all you would ever need for gaming at 1080.

Brilliant thanks for the info. Have a OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply so hipefully this will be ok.

Yeah it will be fine, also nvidia release beta drivers either a few days later or early of any big releases and they usually add sli profiles with them.

So if you want to play a new game just make sure you update the drivers. :)

Is there a particular brand that I should pick for SLI? Not really looking to overclock, would hope I didn’t have to with 2 of these running.

The only 2 games I can think of in the last 2 years that haven't been SLI ready on release are MW3 and Alan Wake. Every other game I can think of has had an SLI profile before release day. Also you do not need to update drivers to update your SLI profile. SLI profiles update on the fly now as soon as Nvidia release it as long as you have an internet connection. In the last 2 years I have found SLI to be "out the box". It just works. You simply install both cards, install drivers, go into Nvidia control panel & tick the SLI box & hit "apply". :)

In the case of mw3, you wouldnt even need sli to max it out. It's just a reskin of the previous two games, and theese will run with all the bells and whistles on much older cards.
