Well my pc is in a loft conversion, but today has cooled off a little compared to last week, was playing a bit of AC4, and the back of the cards didn’t seem hot, but I put my hand on the side part of the case adjacent to the gpu's and I couldn’t believe how hot it was!

You could cook at that temperature. Immediately turned the pc off!

Hopefully just a summer issue!

What temps were they getting to? Have you been monitoring using MSI AB?

How have you arranged your case fans? Enough air flow?

Did you actually see what the temp was or just turn it off without checking? GPU's can take high temps you know. Only at really high temps will they die 100C+.

Iirc my gb wf 670's in bitfenix shinobi xl reached 72 and 55c. Board in sig with a 1 slot gap. I used a 1-1 custom fan profile in afterburner which helped.

Im afraid to say I dont have any monitoring software. :o

I've just never felt so miuch heat from them before. Espcially not on the side of the case. The back of the cards seemed cool, which just goes to show that 90% of the heat is being dumped in to the case.

Well I doubt it was 100cand I wasnt seeing any problems whilst gaming, but it was too hot for me to be comfortable with.

Which models are they, good airflow. Board spacing etc. Id suggest running afterburner with on screen display set to show temps.

I have 670 Gigabyte WF cards, and spacing is good. As for fans, well I am probably one fan short if I’m honest. I had to remove the main big fan on the side of the case in order to accommodate my Noctua cpu cooler.

I prefer it when my card is heating up the side of the case a lot. It lets you know they're working hard. As they should.

Try the custom fan profile in afterburner and use it to keep an eye on temps. Due to the non reference cooler they do add a bit of heat to the case.

The Windforce coolers dump heat into the case and don't exhaust the heat like the reference radial blower fans do. But still we need to know the load temperatures to know whether things are getting too hot or not !.

yup its summer my cards have been heating up, upto 80c i've seen on the top card and 5-8c lower on bottom card.

Summer is a pain

Ambient temperatures seem to play a massive role, when it comes to my set up.

Tonight is quite cold, and I have all the windows open in the loft and it is not heating up as it was earlier....

Honestly it was HOT earlier. Never had I felt it that hot on the side of the case.

One 670 = a cool running card. Add a second and it becomes a ferocious little cooker!

It must be heating up the cpu cooler as well no doubt...

I personally use HWMonitor, anything will do. The side of a case will often become very hot; this might be preferable, as at least you know the heat is being dissipated and not just allowing the cards to cook due to a broken fan or something!
