Happy to spend some money but will I get more from the 1080 under water?
My classys are under water.

Thoughts please?

Regards

Matt

Whatever fps you are getting on your settings, the 1080 will get higher IQ like for like fps.

Going forwards, with new vram hungry api's, the 1080 will stretch it's legs further with it's newer tuned tech and optimisations.

I think in games that work perfectly with SLI you might get better performance from the 780s although I don't think you would and of course SLI performance is not a given.

In addition to that you're probably going to be hamstrung by only having 3GB on the 780s.

So yes, I would switch.

What clock speed are your Classified's running at? I went from two launch day ref 780's, which I subsequently put under water and had running at 1.2Ghz to a FE 1080 on hybrid cooling which will run at 2Ghz. 20-30% performance increase @ 5760x1080 and in benchmarks @ 1080p. VR totally different story, miles ahead, as none of the titles I have support SLI.

Thanks all. I have just ordered one of these.
GeForce GTX 1080 SEA HAWK EK X 8192MB GDDR5X Watercooled PCI-Express Graphics Card
Doesn't seem to bad a price for a pre fitted block.

Will report back findings tomorrow when fitted.

1080 will be better and use massively less power. I went from a EVGA GTX780 FTW to my 1070 and in some games I am seeing double the performance. Water probably won't get you a better overclock but what I have found is that I get stable high clocks due to the temps being very low compared to others on here who have fluctuating clocks due to the temps changing. At stock clocks my card holds a solid 2012mhz.
