hi,
if i baught a 2nd 7800gt would it matter what make it is ? i have a leadtek in now, its the extreme version clocked at 450mhz, could i run sli with any other 7800gt?

also, would 1 x1800xt overclocked beat 7800gt sli setup??
 
i think you can run any make of gfx cards in sli ok now with the new drivers, but if youve got a special edition card with a stock clocked card then the faster will default to the slower cards rates. i dont think you can OC one either without the other but i may be wrong and stand open to be corrected on that bit.

ive seen tests that a x1800xt 512 will beat 7800gt SLi, but i would imagine it depends on the games and tests ran. the particular place i saw them tested seemed to be heavily biased from test to test so its hard to say without speaking with someone who has seen both, gibbo maybe? are you going to be running gfx at more than 1280x1024?
 
The X1800XT would be about the same speed (if my benchmarks are anything to go by), and the other card doesn't HAVE to be the same brand, but they will need to be clocked the same.
