Sli 7900GTO

Hi, might be a stupid question to some but will i see a dramatic difference if i was to buy a second GTO and run them in Sli? Hopefully id like to see a HUGE difference as forking out another £170+ for something i already have is quite a lot. I really only care about results in game and maybes 3DMARKS for bragging rights among friends. Or is it better waiting and getting a 8800?

sell the gto and use the money you plan to spend to get an 8800gtx then in every game you will see a REAL guarenteed significant improvement in frames and eye candy. I chose 8800gtx over x1900xtx xfire and do not regret it one bit.

As said, sell your 7900GTO and you could at the very least get an 8800GTS.

yeah, i ave a Asus A8N-SLI SE motherboard and a 3500+ which hopefully ill be upgrading that to a 4200 X2, you the board and maybes the cpu will bottleneck it?

I don't think a 4200+ will bottleneck an 8800 a lot, you can always clock the hell out of it.

LoL overclocking isn't my cup of tea really, looks to difficult. Id probably only be overclocking the GFX card if you can get good results out of an 8800..

8800 shouldn't be bottlenecked in games by that CPU, but your 3d mark 06 scores will be lower... DO NOT BE ALARMED!

Yeah thats where the confusion come in, people see lower 3dmark06 scores and think OMG need to upgrade my whole rig, whereas the difference in games would be far smaller. I let my mate put my 8800gtx in his opty 175 rig and it ran just as well...totally liquid.

Id go for a X2 4600, that will be fine with a GTS or GTX.
