I have a 970 in my PC and a 960 in the drawer. Both are Asus Strix cards.

Was just thinking, is it possible to SLI them?

Thank you.

No, you need two 970’s.

You could SLI the 960 but the performance isn’t much better than a single 970, and that’s on games that support SLI - not all do.

In a nutshell you need two matching GPU’s ie 2x 970, 2x1070 (as I have) and so on, brand isn’t an issue, so you can SLI an Asus 970 with a Gigabyte one for example.

Oh and a psu that’ll provide enough juice!

Need to of the same cards, it does not usually matter which brand as already mentioned. Though EVGA did have some weird SLI implementation on there 970 specifically if I recall only being able to SLI properly with other 970's. https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59534

Also I would avoid SLI where you have some nice single options available. Could be worth selling both and paying a bit more for say a used 980Ti.

It used to be possible. AnySLi would have worked, but with unpredictable results. These days you've got no chance.
