so I want to get my ageing Main Gaming PC a bit more than VR Ready. When the new Pascal cards are released and the possibility of a drop in prices for the 970. I was thinking of adding a second 970. There are a couple of problems, if you look at the photo the next PCIE slot is right next to the cooler of my existing card. Would a second identical card cause the first one to over heat..?? Also the second card might be obstructed (DONT LAUGH) by my lovely orange IDE cable. I was thinking would picking up one of the smaller ITX 970s be the better solution? this would leave the first cards cooler unobstructed. and do non matching cards work ok in SLI?

or forgot the whole idea, sell the 970 and put whatever cash I get for it towards a new pascal card

Note: I can move the SATA3 card over to the last slot

not enough space for SLI heat will be a big problem unless you watercooled both.

As Gregster said get a m/b and CPU. Also 15gb ram ??

I think it has been noted with the oculus and the Vive that SLI doesn't work too well atm, may change in the future, but I would prefer having the single card.

15gb ... Yes triple channel, 3x4gb + 3x1gb = 15gb :)
