SLI 980 Ti's with RoG Swift... or wait for Pascal + new screen?

So considering the 980 Ti's are rumoured to be released this summer, I wonder how it would faire to get 2 of these for SLI and combine it with a RoG Swift.

My current specs:
i7 4790K 4.8Ghz @ 1.230v
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
16GB RAM
EVGA Supernova 1000 P2
GTX 970 and BenQ XL2420G (24 inch 1080p)

I bought my 970 for 340 euros and after 2015 they became priced at up to 380 euros (RIP). But that could allow me to sell it at the same price I bought it for.
The BenQ is really good, but somehow I feel I could prefer a slightly larger screen and 1440p at 144hz could be pretty doable with 980 Ti's in SLI depending on its perfomance of course.
But I'm not sure, still too hesitant at this point considering the ''diabolical'' quality control/assurance of the RoG Swift. A large majority are disrecommending it, despite how good it looks on paper. The amount of sour experiences is quite exceptional especially for an Asus branded product.

Now considering I have quite a nice chip at 4.8Ghz @ 1.230v and EVGA Supernova 1000w P2, I feel my current setup is future proofed enough to wait out for Pascal and go from there. I am anticipating revisioned Swifts v2 and if not, then I'l be on the lookout for a free-sync version and go for 390X crossfire.
Now before I YOLO mode... what would the good people of ocuk recommend being in my situation? :D

Id say wait to see all offerings before making a decision, the Freesync screens are coming out nicely, and Asus have the RoG Dominator or whatever its called 27" IPS 1440p 144mhz Freesync screen coming soon.

Your current setup will carry you well into next year without issues i'd imagine, so just sit tight and wait for AMD to show their hand and then Nvidias reply.

Definitely wait for Pascal. By the time that's out 1440p/144hz monitors will be in a better position, likely cheaper too. It doesn't make sense to upgrade now in your shoes unless you just can't stop yourself from scratching that upgrade itch. Not to mention we will have time to see how DX12 & Vulkun play out. Right now even SLI Titan X will have some troubles with 144hz 1440p in some games, never mind in the games that are gonna come out this year.

I guess one of the contributing factors for my impatience is how slow the graphics card industry has been.
It is in the consumers interest for AMD to pick up slack and makes some impressive juggernaut releases to force NVIDIA into competition mode again. As a current NVIDIA user, there is nothing more I despise then childish fanboyism with ill wishes for AMD.

A 27inch 144Hz IPS at 1440p... from Asus.
But then there is IPS bleed and poor black levels. Now sure how IPS have advanced these days in that regard.

Its not so much the upgrade itch, but more so being able to sell my curent card and screen at high price. But yes, what you say makes perfect sense. It would pay off to be patient.

1440p seems to be the sweet spot at the moment, i can highly recommend a swift as well.

I wouldn't 100% agree with SLI Titan X's struggling with the current titles at 1440p. At 4k yes i would agree, but at 1440p even a single titan would be very promising, going by recent benchmarks ofcourse.

I would do as the above has suggested, hold off until we get some real world benchmarks from the 980Ti's before deciding. I am in the exact same boat as you, either going 2x980Ti's or grab a titan now

You have to remember the Swift is the first 144hz 2560x1440 Gaming Screen, it was bound to have some teething problems, also, for every person whining (quite rightly) there's a dozen who are completely happy and are too busy enjoying the monitor to write about it. :)

Had mine from day one - it's been flawless. :)

Though lately there does seem to be a few failing :(

I've got a cheapish Hazro 1440p screen (which I'm actually pretty happy with) and a 780 but considering similar upgrade path to the ops. Will be waiting to see how the 980Ti shapes up and possibly Pascal thereafter. Ideally would like to pair one of the above with a 1440p, 120/144Hz, IPS, G-sync monitor. I'd definitely hold fire as this moment in time.
