Well still no further with this, seems to run nearly as good on one card than two, tried a load of different drivers and in game settings, weird thing is that using the preset setting is that medium settings give more fps than low settings, might just sell the 480 and just forget about SLI now and in the future, it must be a game issue as others are experiencing the same.
You're CPU limited in multiplayer.
That along with the drivers maybe not scaling as well anymore for an older card.
Actually think of it this way...there are scenes that are more CPU demanding than graphic wise? I mean I wouldn't be suprised if there are situation that Tri-SLI GTX480 can do 90-100fps, but overclocked 3570K can only do 70fps, thus bottleneck occur...So a 3570k @4.5ghz is all ready out dated?
No don't think so, a lot of people have said after the last patch DICE broke the scaling in bf3.
I run 2 680's on a 2500K @ 4.6 and only see a max usage of 85% in BF3 and assumed it was a CPU bottleneck but I wouldn't have expected your chip to do the same. Maybe others can confim SLI utilises the GPU's to the full?
It's not dated but BF3 utilises Hyper Threading and that can release the CPU bottleneck in MP somewhat.
I've used an i5 2500K and an i7 3770K so speaking somewhat from experience.
is the difference noticeable between the 2 cpu's?
