Ok, slightly noobish question from me.
I understand Crossfire (no bridge required) will only work on crossfire enabled MoBo's e.g. the AMD 790x chipsets. However where I am confused is can you alternatively use SLI NVIDIA cards on a board that supports crossfire (with a bridge) or are the two forms of linking cards mutually incompatible?
So currently I use a Gigiabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 MoBo and run a single MSI NX8600GTS-T2D256EZ-HD (passively cooled). Will this board support SLI using the second 16x PCI-E slot or only Crossfire?
In an ideal world, because I run a totally silent machine I really want a second MSI NX8600GTS-T2D256EZ-HD to boost my graphics performance. However if only ATI dual graphics can be used I guess I will have to wait for a silent 4800 GPU to be marketed (lets hope it's soon).
