Comrades, I need your help.

1. On a motherboard with 1 pci express x16 port and 1 pci express x8 port - is it possible to SLI?

2. On a GBIC fibre module - why are there two sockets on there labelled receiver and transmitter? :)

1) So long as both the ports are PHYSICALLY 16x ports (read dont have to provide 16x speed), and the videocards fit, in theory it should work. My mates Tyan dual xeon s603 board runs SLI fine, and it is like that, and no it wasn't designed for SLi :)

2) Think you answered that question with your own question. One is the recieving port, one is the transmitting port. If you only had one or the other, you would get collisions (and with light being the data medium here you would get data loss as a result).
