SLI Bridge for MATX Build (2 x 970's)

Having recently completed a new build I thought it would be a fun challenge to reuse a bunch of components from my old rig in a MATX "LAN Party" build. This included two GTX970's with EK waterblocks fitted.

On the MATX board the two cards sit very close to each, unlike on the ATX board they were previously on, so unfortunately one component that I can't reuse is the "solid" SLI bridge that I had. But I'm struggling to find any bridges available that span the MATX 2-slot (40mm-ish).

I imagine that this is mostly because the world has now moved on to the 10-series of cards that support High Bandwidth SLI and therefore demand for non-HB SLI bridge has dwindled away (and perhaps MATX SLI was a very small market anyway).

So I thought I'd turn to this community for some help, specifically: Does anyone know whether using a HB SLI bridge is workable?
- I know the cards don't support HB SLI, but will old-skool SLI work or will the HB bridge confuse the cards or even damage them?
- I ask because there are solid HB SLI bridges available for the MATX spacing.

BTW in the limit I know I can use a flexible bridge but even the one included with the mobo is too long to sit neatly, so I'm largely just looking for a "solid" SLI bridge to stop myself from twitching at the thought of an ugly, cheap-looking, bridge on my shiny build. :)
