Hi guys n gals

1st post in these forums. Might seem like a stupid question.

I'm building my own rig and my question is;

Do I have to use the same make of SLi bridge as my graphics card?

I have 2 x MSi Nvidia 980ti and I obviously I need to link them but the theme inside the build is black and white and the MSi bridge is RED!

This might seem trivial but I like the EVGA one which lights up white.

Can I use the EVGA or do I have to stick with MSI?

You can use the EVGA bridge. I have one and yes, it does look very nice.

Do be aware that SLI bridges for the 10xx cards are apparently not the same as those for earlier series.

Would it be beneficial to send an email before ordering to make sure or to look at compatibility?

*Also, I've seen SLi bridges with 4 slots. There are 2 connectors on my 980Tis, Do I need to connect all 4 between the 2 cards or just 2?

*I'm new to running SLi

If you look at the bottom of the 4 ways you'll see its connecting single lines not all. You connect a single finger of the card, unless its a 1080/1070 where they now use both for more bandwidth. One thing to say as well, you need to open the Nvidia control panel and actually enable SLI as its disabled as default - common question once you get it working!

Any bridge will do, if you want to keep it all matching get the MSI bridge and unscrew the red to paint it white.

Ok, I understand it only using 2 connectors :D Thanks for the heads up enabling SLi bridge !

Also, Interesting info on the MSi bridge, spraying it might be an option. Do you know if lights up Red though?

Plastikote is a good alternative to the more expensive brands of paint, about £5 a tin in matt white and its good stuff.

You can still use the old bridges on the 10x0 cards. It's just performance at higher resolutions and refresh rates can be impacted.
