SLI but not enough room because of cooler.

A question on behalf of my friend.
He is wanting to SLI 260gtxs but his motherboard slots are to close.
When 1 is in and you put the other where it should be ( estimate where its and hover above the slot ) it overlaps around 1-2 mm
He wanted to know if changeing the cooler on the graphics card will make it abit thinner for him to beable to SLI them.

What do you recommend?

I dont know what motherboard he is on, but it does support SLI!

Hi Marc,
Are you sure you are not trying to put the second card in a normal PCI slot?
What motherboard are you using?

its not me this is on behalf of a friend who doesn't have internet at the moment to ask for help.
He is useing the right PCI slots in, had had 2x 9600GTs before which fit perfectly.
