Do you connect your monitor to just one card and it outputs both linked cards to 1 monitor? Or could you remove the link and connect a monitor to each card?

Not sure why you would want to do that but still
 
Connect your monitor to the top card. Make sure the ski/xfire bridge is connecting both cards in your case. Turn it on in settings... and away you go.
 
For sli you use the top most card to output to the monitor, the only time ive ran dual displays with sli was when i had a 32" telly hooked up via hdmi, again connected to the top card. Not sure with xfire though.
