Can they be different manufacs?

different speeds?

different memory sizes?

or

must they be identical?

The must be the same model (both GTX560ti's for example and not a GTX560+560ti) and memory size. Speeds and manufacturers doesn't matter.

For the most part:

Aslong as they are the same model i.e. your trying to SLI a GTX570 with a GTX570, the brand doesn't matter, however for best results you should match memory amount (some combinations with different memory sized will NOT work in SLI unless you use advanced tweaking i.e. coolbits and even then theres no guarantee). Different clock speeds won't stop SLI from working aslong as the other requirements are met however its best to manually make sure they are both running at the same speed, in theory they should automatically be clocked to match by the drivers but this doesn't always happen*.

You can't do things like SLI a GTX480 with a GTX580, 8800GT with a GTX460, GTX570 with a GTX580 and so on.

* In some setups multiple cards with a big difference in clockspeed can cause noticeable microstutter type issues and its not _that_ uncommon for the drivers to fail to unify clockspeeds correctly.

Sorry for the hijack, but how do you check that both cards are running the same speed, and if not, how do you change it?

Reason I ask is that my first card is a standard MSi GTX 570 and my second one is a Asus DirectCU II which runs slightly faster.

Just wanted to make sure they are both synchronised.

Thanks.
