First off, I'd like to say hello. I was recommended to this site by a buddy of mine.

Anyway, my problem is as follows. I have 2 GTX570's and when I try to put them in SLI, my computer completely freezes and requires a hard reset. I can run both cards (and overclock them) without problems by themselves. When both are installed, my PC freezes. Any thoughts?

Specs are:
MSI GD-80 B3 mobo
i5 2500K @ 4.2ghz
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
MSI Twin Frozr II - first GPU
MSI Twin Frozr III - second GPU
Corsair AX850

Hello and welcome :)

Looking at the specs there is nothing which should course any issues.
I assume your running the latest drivers and is it possible to try without your overclock on.

Hi and welcome to ocuk forums.

Are both cards identical models, and do they have the same bios? Ive seen a few users just this week reporting similair issues with sli cards.

Connected the 4pin molex to the motherboard next to the first PCIe16x lane when running SLI? I've got the same PSU and 2x 580gtx and without that cable my 12v RAIL gets destroyed to the point of instability.

One is a Twin Frozr II (stock clock at 750mhz) and the other is a Twin Frozr III (stock clock at 770mhz). I've gotten it to work a couple of times, but it always ends up freezing. I've tried clocking both to 750, both to 770 and even both at 732. Same results.

How do I check the bois on the cards?

Ah yes, Did not see that on the photo, 6 pin Power connector by the first PCI-E slot!

I don't know what 4pin molex you're talking about.

Power connector next to primary pcie slot circled in red.

Bios revision of each card can be checked using gpuz.

yes mate.i was running a dodgy copy of windows 7 and i could not get sli to work.as soon as i clicked sli nvidia control panel locked up,or the screen went blank, and i had to keep restarting my pc.i read on the net the someone else had the same problem and it was because their windows was'nt genuine.so i bought a copy of windows 7 home premium from the mm and did a fresh install and it worked fine first time.i also did a fresh install using my dodgy copy and it was the same so it was'nt just the fresh install.it was the genuine copy of windows

Bios versions are not the same.

TF II is 70.10.38.00.00
TF III is 70.10.27.00.01

Yes, that is my board. Molex connectors came with my GPUs that have that 6pin connector, but I wouldn't know where to put it.

Sorry that I'm kind of a new guy when it comes to SLI.

WOW! Good to know. I'm glad I'm mainly using Linux :), though will need windows at some point when I do my new build, for gaming that is

Have theese auxiliary gpu power connectors started to come back in again? I can remember theese on some s939 sli nforce 4 boards, 4 pin molex for extra gpu power in sli.
