Hi all ive just got the new gfx card both the same and same revisions. And tbh i havent seen any improvement.
In quake4 ive dropped frames and vsync doesnt work correctly EG theres like a lag/delay when moving in games. I was told, i would see a lot of differance in games.I have found none infact, its worse. im just trying to figure out if the cpu is holding me back. Or ive missed something.

While playing quake 4 on a single card it was very smooth but dropped fps on certain maps now it just drops when it feels like.

in 3d mark i score 8997 Sli
Sli Enabled
multi gpu rendering ON
i just dont see a peformance hit.

current drivers
bios is set to what it says in manual
newest bios for motherboard
latest drives for nforce chipset
latest nvidia drivers

my setup is
AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3500+ @ 2400MHz on standard hsf
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
RAM 1GB
Monitor LG FLATRON ez t910bu 19inch studioworks
HDDs ibm dekstar 232GB
x2 Leadtek NVIDIA GeForce 6800gt
Case Gigabyte 3daurora
PSU Hiper Type-R 580w
DVD/Rw Pioneer 110D

could be a driver problem, remove, rebootm install and try again.
Also are you sure your in SLI mode ? be sure to check in the geforce tab in display settings.
what 3dmark did you run ? 03, 05 06 ?

Quake4 with less than 2GB of Ram seems to be really slow & laggy. I presume you are using the ultra quality Gfx settings if so that may be the reason.

On my 7800GTX512 Q4 for me is unplayable with 16xAA + max gfx settings.

As soon as I turn the AA off it runs like a rocket (this is even with the Beta 1.1 patch to give a boost for P4 HT + Dual Core users). This is even with vsync enabled.

i think that seems to be ok, in fact, that looks to be very good  i remember reading that two 6800GTs in SLi were about on par with a 7800GTX 256MB. unless thats not 3dmark05 in whoch case something is wrong.

it has to be 3dmark05, i only get 4500 on 06 with 2 7800gtx's
in which case something is badly wrong.....sounds like its only running one card

thanks for your replys guys . it 3dmark 05.
I cant change the tab in quake4 profile that enables multi gpu. it says its readonly.

But it feels well slow. if i take one card out it goes like a rocket and with current cfg for quake its great. asoon as i stick in 2nd card it feels laggy and drops fps and very choppy.

And it tears like mad.

I have read other forums and what i gather is the mouse lags in quake 4 with vsync on and sli has known issues with vsync.

But my main problems are fps drops and really bad fps.
I no there not uber cards but there far from worst.

btw im not on high quality im on next one down.

If i ask quake4 2 detected settings it auto configures my gfx card to 800x600
high quality thats exactly the same as one card on its own.

SLI TAB IS TICKED...

Thanks in advance......

Sli kind of done my head in at first, my 3d mark 05 score went up to over 10000with sli as opposed to 7000 with sli disabled so I knew it was working but wasnt seeing the performace gain in games. It turns out that you only see the difference with aa af at high resolutions with sli set ups, eg lowering my settings did not give me performace gains but on the other hand when I maxied up the aa,af and resolution it had very little effect regarding loss of fps...

If you install coolbits you can then select your game profile and it will enable all the extra sli rendering modes in your gpu controll panel, think there are 4 or 5, ive found alternate frame rendering 2 to be the best. also i found half life 2 runs a lot smoother with sli disabled.

So there is no point in sli i was going for peformance after reading toms hardware. on that website it pointed out the 6800gt in sli was getting 112.5fps im getting no where near that i no the game is capped but im still not getting smooth game play its gay tbh.

going to get coolbits...

Ok ive overclocked the cards and all seems fine. there now @ 400/1100
Scores as follows...
3dmark05 7997 1600x1200
3dmark05 8594 1280 x 1024
3dmark05 9328 1024 x 768
3dmark 05 9461 800x600

But the quake4 profile on multi gpu is still read only.... :(

Why do you need to access the SLI part of the profile? If you really want to play about with AFR, SFR etc, then download coolbits first, You should be able to get to the stuff you need then by pulling down the tab that says basic settings and you should have Advanced settings appear to play with, though it's set to the best SLI profile already, more importantly, have you enabled triple buffering? If not, then do that first, it's more than likely the cause for choppy FPS. As mentioned previously, the AA really spanks the framerate, I keep it at 16x12 with noaa for multi, it never really leaves 60fps.

sorry my bad, this is what I get with 1 gtx :

and with 2 sli :
