Hi all, this is my first post on here. I currently have a 9800GTX GPU, I bought an ATI Radeon HD 5850. I play Arma 2 OA mostly. However I was wondering if I should instead get SLI GTX 260, would this improve performance from my current 23fps with my 9800GTX ? Well yes or course it would, but by how much ?

yeah, I was thinking about getting SLI GTX 460's, that would be very nice, but expensive :( Have you any idea of a motherboard that would support AMD processor and SLI ? And AM3 Thanks
 
GTX260 SLI would be a massive improvement over a single 9800GTX aslong as you played at resolutions above 1280x.

I would personally look at a single GTX470 or GTX460 SLI if I was buying now tho.

I will probably go with the GTX 460 SLI, what brand do you reccommend ? Cheers
 
Personally I reccomend Gigabyte these days but OcUK don't seem to stock em... I'm probably going to pickup the Gigabyte GTX470 SoC at some point unless better cards come out first (people who have had their hands on them claim they are very quiet). The Gainward and MSI GTX460 I believe have decent cooling - been some complaints from the other makes of the fan being loud if that bothers you.
 
There are nForce chipsets for AMD... I don't think the native AMD chipsets allow SLI tho. Not an area I'm altogether upto date on tho. From a quick look I can't see any modern AMD boards that allow SLI.
 
you claim you have a 5850? Why not just use it, it would beat down the 9800 card easily...really easily...having a 5850 would negate any need for a 2nd card unless you're playing on a HUGE screen
 
I went from a 9800GTX to a GTX295 and havent looked back!

Huge Huge HUGEEEEEEEEE improvement!!

So SLi'ed GTX260s should also be a huge improvement!!
