i havent had Sli before, just wondered if anyone could help me.

ive currently got 1 GTX 280 which is the 'Point Of View' one, now i cant find that on the Overclockers website or any other GTX 280s for some reason.

i know the cards have to be the same, but do they have to be by the same vendor i.e. POV or Gainward??

also, just wondered if theirs any issues with Vista and Sli, i remember hearing a year or so ago about some issues.

They can be any make as lomg as they are the same spec. So you need another basic 602MHz card, not one of the BFG, XFX or EVGA overclocked ones.

Nah you can use any, im running an overclocked EVGA card just fine with a standard card, just putn the slower card in the upper slot

thanks for the info, for some reason i waited until tonight to place the order and its seems the POV GTX 280s have dissapeared from existence, i can find 1 in Norway but not sure if i really want the card shipped international.

im just a bit paranoid that im gonna have issues if i buy an EVGA version and run it with a POV.... im well gutted now!

It'll work fine, although I'd never do it personally, 'cos I'm a stickler for matching everything lol

As long as its a GTX280 it doesn't matter what clockspeed, version or manufacturer it is. I have 3 different GTX's all different manufacturer, all different clockspeeds - works a charm.

It will run just fine. :)

i hope our right, found http://www.******.com/product/147809

heres hoping it works. im not gonna go for the clocked editions, at least that one has pretty much the same clock speeds etc..

so even if the EVGA has like stuff like CUDA that im not sure the POV one has that wont cause issues?

why oh why didnt i just order 2 gtx 280s the other week....

They're all the same cards mate, made in the same factory. Other than the pre-OC editions, all that's different is the sticker.

sweet, so im just being overly paranoid...

if this is true then im very tempted to push caution to the wind and order the only one that OCuk have available...

im sure the corsair 750w PSU is sli-certified, 750w will be enough power for 2 GTXs wont it?

Im using a Corsair 750w for my 8800GTX's so id imagine youd be fine, especially as you habe the required 8 pin connectors

thanks for the info guys, ive been sleeping on it and i think im just gonna wait until Dx11 which isnt too far away, instead of buying 2x Dx10 cards im just gonna put my GTX280 in my other rig and then buy 2x Dx11 cards for when Windows 7 comes out.

My single GTX 280 handles everything very well, frame rate drops a bit in some very graphicly intensive games, usually only in cut scenes such as Crysis, and thats only because i put everything to Ultra-high settings.

so hopefully i can wait until Dx11 before i finally go Sli..... i'm say this now, but ill probably change my mind before the end of the day...
