SLI GTX680

Most of the time, but I get slowdown when there's a lot going on screen in BF4 and Metro Redux. Also I've not got everything maxed on either game, HBAO is off.

Problem is a lot of games IE: BF4 for example are very CPU dependant , chucking more GPU grunt at it isn't going to solve a lot of problems. I had this issue last year hence why I upgraded to the 3570k.

Having said that and knowing your i5 is still up there with the big boys I should think any upgrade over a single 680 would be useful, Personally SLI was the one for me considering the price of the cards (£300 for the pair brand new full warranty!) and I can't see myself getting the upgrade itch any time soon.

The new 970 looks like a beast and the overclocking potential of the new 900 series is quite frankly "Sick mate".

I agree but I've only got 2gb of VRAM to play with hence I rather get 970 or 980 than go SLI. Going to wait for some user reviews on here before parting with my cash.

I went from a 680 to a 780Ti in BF4 for 1920x1080. The improvement was very very noticeable, all around.

A 970 would offer much the same jump if you put an OC on it (Which it should easily do)

Thanks for the advice, 970 it is. Could even SLI them in a year or so time.

my 290x lightning is far better on min framrates in the games i play perhaps as much as 30-40 % in some instances than my two 4gb 680 SLI. thats where it counts for me, not the difference between, 250fps and 300 at the other end

Elrasho,

I'm in a similar position to yourself, single 680 and would like to upgrade. Could you post an update when you have tried out your new 970 in BF4 as at this point I'm still undecided whether to also pick up a 970.

I would also like to know the differences. I recently upgraded to a 680 OC Ltd from a 470 (found a nice used one 2 months ago) and would like to know if there is a noticeable difference between the 680 and 970 because i got confused from a few benchmarks i saw that the difference wont be that big if gaming at 1080p

Looking at benchmarks I think it's about a 30% increase at 1080p gaming which for me is astonishing!

I will wait out this one since i upgraded recently and the games i play are not as taxing. I will probably wait till they manage to make a proper 4k GPU (will have to wait for a long time :P).

I always had this in mind, if my upgrade is not 50% + then it is not worth the money. I was wowed when i went from 8600 to 8800gts, then 8800gts to 470 and now 470 to 680. I want an excuse to change my 1080p monitor which is 7 years old but i cant find the excuse just yet (although 2 970s is tempting for 4k)
