I currently have a FA2 Geforce GTX 770 EX OC 2048MB https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-045-KF

Really happy with it and seem to max out most games ok. Not an FPS freak though so I may well be putting up with lower framerates some wouldnt accept.

Been considering SLI as I have a nice 1440p screen which obviously adds a bit of strain on.

What kind of performance increase do people normally expect to see, I see on the review that the reviewer claimed double, but that sounds highly unlikely to me.

IIntel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (overclocked to 3.8) (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366)
Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply

Would that PSU be enough for two cards? Currently have an SSD and 2 Sata drives in there as well

I have 680s in SLi and the performance as been fantastic on my 1440p monitor. I'd really think hard about upgrading now though as games are coming out that push past the 2gb vram limit. BF4 is the only game so far that I've experienced this with but I can't run it in ultra even though the cards have the power to do it because they don't have enough vram. Slightly annoying as I've had the second 680 less then a year.

Ah thats interesting to know, and annoying as my gtx 770 is the most expensive card Ive bought and only has 2gb.

BF4 definitely one I play as well.

Yeah what jeps said 2gb vram aint gonna cut it for demanding games especially at your res. I game at the same res as you do and I got 670SLI 2gb and while most games are fine at max settings and 50fps+ there is some that I struggle with.
I would look at the 290 CF them you can get the cheapest one:

I personally don't think its worth getting the x version for about 8% performance, and who knows drivers might catch up to that. If you aint worried about heat and noise get them now, or wait for a couple months and they will bring them out with custom coolers.

To be honest not had the 770gtx that long so if I need to upgrade or replace will have to get a decent return on it in Ebay first.

Ill stick to Nvidia simply because I always have, and I fear change :)

Hi Jeps, can you do me a favour and post this info and your findings in this thread please?

I've taken plenty of abuse for suggesting that 2gb might not be enough vram at 1440/1600P at the highest Ultra details with x4AA. :)

I don't know what the default ultra settings are, but that's what I got mine on and I get 50+fps but then again the game crashes after about the second map change:p

Will do when I get home. Off the top of my head my vram peaked at 2260ish on ultra with 2xmsaa I think (I always switch down to 2x because its all you really need at 1440p).

Is it playable? That sounds quite low.

One things for sure the game is buggy as hell.

Game is barely playable if you had the most powerful system in the world sadly.

One reason not to make any judgements on what cards are good for it until they sort the mess out.

I was running at Ultra with AA down quite low and it was ok most of the time, the Resort map with the hotel always ran bad though, but it still did when I went down to high as well.

Im considering trading my card for a 4gb version, but if I ebay my current one thats still going to cost me £100 to do, just to get another 770 gtx but with 4gb.

I run sli 780gtx @ 1440p and it's spot on, can see the difference if I forget to turn sli back on after a driver update.

Cheers.

Oh yeah, if it wasn't I would kick up a fuss and buy myself 290 CF right now:p
The games I struggle with at the moment with max settings:
Skyrim heavily modded 40+ mods
crisis 3 its actually quite good with fps but it seems to crash.
Tomb Raider for me its the most demanding game its just unplayable.

I'e just SLI'd my KFA2 670. Bought on 4gb one when it was on offer a few months ago, and then watched in dismay at the 7xx series tumbing in price while the 670s went up as stock dwindled. But luckily saw a B grade one last week for £200 (and it was B Grade, bubble wrap and haribo, that's it), but they're plenty powerful enough. Have a Haswell i5, and ran 3DMark (Firestrike I think) and got a score over over 10000. For £420 in cards, I'm well pleased, but glad I bought the 4gb versions.....

Glad l bought the two Asus 670 4gb when they were at £200 on offer, as l'm looking at a 1440p for crimbo.

But still stuck at which one to buy, a little help would be nice please.:)

SLI 2GB will be much faster then a single 4GB, even at 1440p
on single screen I rarely if ever see over 2GB and that is even allowing for my cards caching textures they don't need
