I guess the question should be:

Would I be better with 2x 8800GTs or 1x 8800GTX Ultra.

Given that I can't buy a 8800GT anywhere I'm tempted to go with the GTX Ultra.

Been asked a lot has this.
I have SLI setup and don't think its worth it tbh. (8800GT)
Although, I may think differently once I get a monitor that can handle more than 1280x1024.

if you use the search button you can find all the info you need on sli, and which would be best.

Sorry, but a current SLi setup for that resolution is just plain stupid.

I enjoyed the benefits of SLi with two 512MB 7800GT's when they were new, and now and just starting to get to grips with a Crossfired pair of 3870's. I do however have a 24" TFT at 1920x1200.

Think outside the box eh!
Future upgradability.....like when I get a new monitor with higher native res's.
;)

And it does give me upto a 30% boost in frame rates in certain circumstances as it is.

But a 30% increase when you already get 60-100FPS is pretty useless no?

But yes, if you plan to get a >1680x1050 monitor, then playable framerates NEED double card setups to run at higher settings.
