Hi all,

Still a n00000b on this. SLI lappies, are they really neccessary?

I have seen ones with SLI 765, but won't this have heat issues?

SLI sounds good tho! I was thinking of a 770/780M or waiting for the next series of GPU to come out around March/April.

speak to me folks! :)

It's all down to how well the laptop has been designed but obviously they will always run hotter than a desktop equivalent.

As Tom E mentions, how well the laptop handles SLI will be primarily down to how well it has been designed (or in other words; how good teh cooling setup is).

My understanding is that the Alienware M18 and the Clevo P3xxx are pretty good at managing the heat output, but they do run hot.

As a preference I would always choose the laptop with the stronger single GPU over weaker SLI. Heat factors aside SLI, by design, will never be as good as an equivilant performance single GPU. They may get close performance wise in some games but drop back in others due to scaling, CPU limitations & driver issues.

GTX765M SLI's performance is almost equivalent to single GTX780M. I guess besides performance it also come down to other elements like the "look", weight and thickness, that may be one's requirement when choosing a laptop
