I hear this is now a thing of the past and only affected by old motherboards and CPUs?

I have a Gigabyte P55-UD5 board and i5 760 CPU. These are a few years old now. Will this effect an SLI setup if I decide to 'invest' in another GTX 670?
 
Microstutter still exists - its generally blown out of proportion and 9 times out of 10 noticeable levels of it are down to user error rather than a problem with multi GPU systems.
