Hey I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good Sli Motherboard which is good for overclocking too

am planning on runnnig it with 2 8800gtx & a q6600

anyone have any suggestions? both cheap & expensive routes :p

Well if you want a SLi motherboard right now.... you can either get the new Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i, which is the only 780i in stock right now or get the EVGA 680i.

You can have either/or from my experience... my best bet would be on the 750i but its not out yet...

I'm playing with the Gigabyte 650i at the moment and while its very very good - the overclocking is pretty average at the moment - with a lot of tweaking tho I'm slowly getting more and more from it... its head and shoulders above my experiences with 680i boards for overclocking and stability tho.

will only want to OC to 3ghz mebbe 3.2 if possible so for the cheap route would I be ok with a 650i?

such as http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-099-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=174?

as you can tell am a bit of a nab :p

The 680i boards have been around for a while now ! They are very good still. I have an evga 1 that can clock quads @ 450fsb !!! Drop me aline if interested !

3gig is perfectly possible... 3.2gig is fine on 9x multi... but can be problematic on 8x - so far absolutely no problems upto 375 FSB but it gets fiddly after that... main problem is balancing getting enough chipset voltage without overheating the Northbridge...

Only downside to that board is the PCI-e slots in SLI are only 8x 8x - tho imo with 8 series cards it doesn't really hold you back - but your mileage may vary... I've found it a breeze to setup, very stable and performance is good - along with some OCZ 6400 Reaper memory (even tho the board doesn't have EPP/SLI memory support) I can set the EPP timings manually and it gives staggering performance... running some of this at 4-3-3-8 on 2.1volts at 800MHz and getting 10,300MB/s READ speeds in Everest which is no mean feat.

The PCI-e bus overclocks fairly well too which should help out if you do run 8800 cards in it... the one thing I do reccomend is getting a good fan on the NB heatsink - or replacing the NB cooler with something better... its fine for stock but really holds you back above 375MHz FSB.

hmm will prons look into getting one of them then

thanks for all the help :)

Hmm... judging (just) by the Northbridge coolers on those things they are gonna have the same stability issues as the 680i :(
