8800gt and 7900gt, will it be faster with the two together or slower than just 8800, 8800gt is 1gig mem, 600mhz, 7900gt dunno specs but think its the 512mb xfx one? :confused: lol
 
If its same as ATI's crossfire you wont be able to mix cards from different series, as in either 2 8 series or 2 7 series. And again if you can mix and match then they both default to the slower speed card, so prob not worth it in your case

It isn't the same as crossfire, you need two of the same model. For example you can have two GTX 280s or two GTX260s, but not one of each. You can mix brands though (eg one bfg and one ocuk value) but if clockspeeds vary then one needs to be over/ under clocked.

And with CrossfireX the faster card isn't downclocked, they run at independent speeds.
