Hi,

So I have the Asus Rampage II Extreme. I also have two MSI FrozrII 470 cards. I'm trying to sli them but seem to be hassles.

First of all, I have tried the cards when not in sli mode and both of them work fine but when i enable SLI in NiVidia's control panel by selecting "Maximise 3D performance" instead of Disable SLI I'm having issues. In Windows all is good and well, but when I try and play any game after about 30 seconds i get a black screen, and sometimes it comes back but eventually it just crashes and i need to reboot. Any Idea what I might have done wrong?

My doubts are,

Am I using the correct sli bridge? My cards have like a double bridge on each but the bridge i seem to have only has one? is there a reason for this?
I have the cards in the 1st and 3rd PCI slot on my board (for better air) is this ok?
Do I need to enable anything in bois for sli to work?
Am I enabling it correctly in the Nvidia Control panel?

Any other suggestions would be great... as you can probably tell by now i have never used SLI before so I'm hoping its something silly like not enabling something in bios maybe!

Thanks!!!

using a BeQuite 1200 PSU, but it is a concern of mine that my psu may be faulty, anyway I can find out for sure?

lol, I have this issue with 3 570's under a 850watt psu, I am blaming the psu though lol. An upgrade is in order. Have you tried a diff one?

Sli 470 draws approx. 579w playing Crysis and 740w running furmark.
600w psu is clearly not enough, would want 850w for future proofing.:)

I apperciate you guys think its the a power supply and im not saying it isn't... but my power supply that i am using is a BeQuite 1200W as stated earlier.. I dont even own a 600W PSU anymore that was from an older build of mine that I no longer have.

anyways is this a common issue with fault PSU's Because I ahve both cards plugged in and power going to them without a problem right now. I only see crashes when turning on what I think is the SLI option in the Nvidia Control panel and the trying to play a game,

Games I have had the crash in are
WoW
Rift
BFBC2

Anyways I'll be greatfull for any help... Thanks.

Make sure you're trying to enable SLI properly.

See if this guide helps:

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=588728

Also make sure you have the latest drivers.

This chap also had problems enabling SLI and the latest Beta drivers sorted it:

Ok... so...

I have been only playing WoW and I have been ok playing Rift with no seen issues and SLI clearly working (all settings are quite high)

But... when I just try and load a map in BFBC2 and i get a blue screen every time... Any ideas???

The drivers I'm using are the latest ones, Version 266.58

Any idea where I might be going wrong here??? Thanks..

Have you tried the 270.51 beta drivers?

Nope, I'll give them a go now, ta =)

Are you running your system overclocked, if so try it at stock, could be a memory/voltage setting issue. Bfbc2 is a pretty strenous game that will show up any overclocking instabilities.

Nope not running any clocks atm. I do however intend to restore my OCUK profile when i get this all sorted.

Installed new drivers.

Now I am no longer getting a BSOD which is progress, but BFBC2 is just terminating. Once I managed to load a map, was in the game for about 30 seconds, and then i jumped back to windows With the message asking about not using the windows 7 theme because my systems preformance has dropped..

So something must be happening to have windows terminate a game because BFBC2 is using too much resources on an i7 Sli 470 system =/

Any ideas?

Thanks again for all your help with this!

Off to bed in a bit, but i did notice something,

running BFBC2 without sli turned on, I didnt have an issue, but i had SpeedFan running in windows and my Core temps were getting pretty high so then I thought ahh maybe its over heating, so I put SLI back on and had speed fan running in the background again, while in the server list area my CORE temps are 70+... No idea what temps I would be looking when loading a map because I am getting the BSOD again!!!

Anyways, I am just using the stock cooler until I can put my system into my WC rig. But just wanted to make sure all my components were working right before I do that.. I'm still concerned I have a dodgy PSU, anyway I can check that for sure?

Ta guys!
