SLI Nvidia core speeds

I just purchased another GT650m for my laptop to run in SLI. Previous core speed was o/c to 1100 core. However the new ultrabay GT650m locks up at this speed. As such I have so far dropped both to be 1000 and work up from there. However, can I run my first GT650m at 1100 or will the SLI only run at the max of GT650m number 2 that's running at 1000? Or do they run at there own independent speed?

using something like afterburner or precisionX, you can "untick" the sync box and you can then set the clock speeds independently
