Hi all,

Thoughts on the following please:

Current setup:
C2D 3GHz at defaults
Graphics card: ATI 6950
2GB RAM

Going to be playing BF3 when it comes out, all pre-ordered etc.

Would love it to be running on pretty good graphics details (have you seen the trailers??!?! :D)

What would you suggest as my next upgrade to ensure good gaming?

Another ATI 6950 in SLI

or board/cpu/memory upgrade?

What would be the best increase in fps? (all theoretical since the game is not actually out yet).

Mobo, CPU, and Mem tbh. Graphics card is fine, going sli will just bottleneck with your current components. (edit: Bottleneck even further :P)

You should see more of an increase by upgrading cpu/mem/mobo.

That is indeed a major upgrade!

Surely the board that it comes with isn't always needed, is it? The board is around the same price as the chip :p

Well, the cheapest upgrade you could hope for would be to buy a second hand socket 775 quad core. and more RAM from somewhere.
But you will have no further room for upgrade after that...

True,But i never see the point investing in old hardware,To just have to upgrade again round the corner.
