Am fairly at a loss here, I'm in need of an upgrade, cost isn't that much of an issue, and I see the new Nvidia beasts with 768MB ram and super duper processors with all the bells and whistles on..However looking through the Ocuk store I can only find one SLi motherboard (May be looking in the wrong place like an idiot..)?

What ATI card currently (or will do soon) stands up to the challenge, because looking through all the X-Fire motherboards stocked, I quite like the look of one or two, so perhaps X-Fire is the way forward?

Also, any news on Ram on the horizon? Should I be looking for a certain type? Am after 4GB I think, as I currently have 2GB and video encoding/3d Modelling still takes a while (PC is getting on a bit now, a P4 Prescott EE..).

Noise/heat is also a concern - are these super-duper prebuilt machines worth it? Or considering I have most parts should I scrimp and save and buy just the key upgrades (Mobo/2xGfx Card/Ram)?

Where am I best headed in terms of CPU - AMD X2 or Intel Dual Core?

I'm after a system with future proofing fully in mind - so a motherboard that has support for upcoming quad core processors (seen a few) would be appreciated, 2xGfx cards is a must.

I Woul wait till ATI release the new DX10 cards, depending if you want to spend big bucks. The ammount of bandwidth reported they will have is going to kill the 880GTX. Seems like ATI will have a better card than nvidia as they are taking longer to produce ect.

Rumours march when asus release thier board i think (not sure), also i seen benchmarking resuslts of a prtotype of the ATI r600 vs 8800 gts/gtx (cant remeber which they compared to) and it beat it in more than 70% of benchmarking tests. This is whats putting me off from getting a pc now, i want to see *** asus pulls out with the rd600 chipset and see if it pwns the 680i.
